Finding the Froh: An Update on Healing and Content

For the past two weeks, the most complex architectural problems I have solved are figuring out how to coax our garden here in View Royal into blooming, and trying to determine the exact coagulation temperature required to make our own cheese. David and I have spent hours outside just existing, and honestly, it has been the quietest, most peaceful medicine I could have asked for. My heart is incredibly happy there.

I want to give you all a quick update on the floor plan here at Froh Collective for the near future.

I recently had to step back and take some time off from my day job. I am currently in active healing mode, working through a leg injury and managing some mental health hurdles. I might get into the specifics of that at a later date, but for right now, I am simply setting a boundary and focusing entirely on my recovery. I am prioritizing myself, my health, and my relationship.

Because of this, we are going to make a few temporary shifts.

A little while ago, I changed our video schedule from weekly to monthly to protect everyone's cognitive load (my own included!). We are still firmly on track for that - the next full episode drops on May 6th, which also happens to be my birthday!

However, I originally planned to release two written blogs on alternating Sundays (The Froh Files here on the site and Breaking Character on Patreon). I am very good at recognizing when a system isn't working, and right now, forcing myself to sit at a computer and write endlessly is simply the wrong prescription. I love working on Froh Collective, but I need to do it in small, manageable doses. I am still going to write these blogs, but I am removing the strict schedule. You can expect a new post roughly every two weeks or so instead.

We are also going to make a pivot with the video content.

"Froh" means joy. Joy requires a structure of safety, which is why we talk so much about building science, but right now, I need all the actual, unfiltered joy I can get. So, instead of our heavily researched, highly edited deep dives, I am going to share a mix of raw, minimally edited videos. I want to show you the little things I am doing to keep my spirits up. I am going to show you exactly how I am applying the 'healing at home' principles we talked about in Episode 5 in real time.

What will that actually look like? It means you can expect a short, unpolished clip of me just saying hi in the afternoon. It means photos from the garden. If I am feeling extra productive, I might mix in some travel photos, or content around our other hobbies - like the aforementioned cheese making.

You will still see a few of the regular-style clips for Episode 5 before the new episode drops, but the majority of what I post right now will not be directly related to our standard educational curriculum.

Thank you for giving me the space to do exactly what I tell you to do: design a life that treats the human animal with kindness.

I'm Erns. Stay safe, stay froh.
